Hitachi Metals, Ltd.(formerly Hitachi Cable, Ltd.) and Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. jointly established JPS by integrating their high-voltage power cable business sections, their core business sectors enjoying the support and patronage of many customers for 90 to 100 years, and started its operation in October 2001.

The business integration is structured so as to preserve and develop the outstanding technological development competence of both companies, and to enhance cost competitiveness, thereby to promote a stable supply and better service for users.
