J-Power Systems engages in energy transmission, a field closely related to the global environment. All departments pursue business activities with "creation of a better global environment" as the main theme.

The 21st century is called "the century of the environment". As a company engaged in energy transmission, a field closely related to the global environment, JPS goes all-out in its efforts to develop environmentally friendly products. Acquisition of ISO14001 has been encouraged since before the integration of Hitachi Cable, Ltd. and Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. Hitaka and Toyoura Works acquired ISO14001 in 1997, Osaka Works in 2000. Moreover, JPS is actively committed to energy saving, as well as to the reduction of CO2 emissions and waste.
At Hitaka Works and Toyoura Works, combustible wastes such as paper scrap, plastics, and woodchips are collected; at a recycling plant of Hitachi Cable, Ltd., they are then converted into solid fuel, which is used for power generation. JPS also actively promotes the material recycling of various electric wires/cables, enabling the reuse of waste as raw materials.
